CONDUCTING A CUB TEST
 
1. Instruct the cub to meet you at Vixen, and, from there, you can take
the cub to a quiet area first, then to an open arena (generally
Eleusis). Make sure that the arena will be available before you agree to
conduct the test. Make foxes clan your active clan and 'clan enemy
<yourself> start sentinel cub test of cub <cubname>'. Start by asking
for a mentor check on Foxes or HT for the cub.

2. Read the cub's essay on what it means to be a Sentinel. If the essay
is not up to par (not personal enough would be one of the things that
would be an issue,) then you can give the cub another chance to write
it. Only fail a cub if this is their last chance.

3. Read the cubs log of either a discussion with their mentor, or a
hunting trip. Make sure that this isn't a few lines, two paragraphs at
least for either would be bare minimum.

4. Have the cub show you the required herbs. Using the SHOWOFF command
will make this part go by much smoother. Have the cub take the herbs
from his rift, then SHOWOFF herb. Be sure you see the cub has 10 of each
herb.

5. Check the cubs required vials. Be sure you have put yours away first.
Also, make sure they know how to fill their pipe in the arena stage.


6. Ask the cub a couple questions about the harvesting laws to make sure
they have a basic understanding.

7. Ask the cub to demonstrate that they can remove their pack three
times in succession. They should also be able to explain what to do
should someone attempt to steal from them, and at least one way to
recognize someone is attempting to steal from them.

8. Explain to the cub what the arena is, and that you'll be performing a
practical examination of curing with the cub. During this process, you
will do one of two things: afflict the cub with each of the afflictions
listed, or prompt them with a symptom of most or all of the following
afflictions.

If you cannot afflict with any of these, and nobody is willing to
perform the practical part of the examination for you, you may instead
prompt the cub using SAY with symptoms. They will still be expected to

eat the correct herb, and say afterwards what they've just done.

9. Begin following the cub, and ask that he lead you to the following
places-Hashan, Ashtan, North of New Thera, Flame of Yggdrasil, Cyrene,
Shallam, Delos, and back to Vixen. The order you have them go is your
choice, but all places must be visited.

10. Ask on HNT for the cub to be retitled "Forestwalker", sponsor them
to
Houserank 3 and announce on HT that the cub has passed his test. Remind
him/her that he/she is still on probation, have him/her read HHELP
FORESTWALKING and message Eski BEFORE he/she leaves you (both you as the
aide, and the cub should do this).
