CLHELP CIGUIDETOINTROS Composed by: Andante on or about the 15th of Lupar, 432 AF. INTRODUCTIONS Because the intro is the novice's first impression of the House, it is imperative that these be done thoroughly and, even more important, that the cub understands the rules, policies, and what is required of them are things to be taken seriously. Once you have completed two observed intros, you will be able to conduct them on your own, and will be expected to help out whenever you can. CONDUCTING AN INTRO 1) When you spot a new cub tell the cub to read HELP NEWCOMERS SENTINELS and follow instructions there. 2) When the cub says they has read the files, meet the cub at the Eleusian Gatehouse and welcome them to the House. Ask if the cub registered (HELP REGISTER). Check the cub's history and level )ask a full aide to do this if you aren't one). CLHELP SPECIALENTRANCES for details on how you should decide on cub, special edition, or scout. 3) Make foxes clan your active clan and 'clan enemy Starting the intro of Cub ' 4) Take the cub to the House Estate and tell them about the door. Also make them aware of security issues for the House Estate that also are noted in HHELP VIXENPATH. Introduce them to Vixen. Ask the cub some questions to check they did the reading. See if the cub has some questions. Remind them of HHELP CUBFILES, make sure they understand it is essential to read it before their interview. 5) Ask the cubs a few basic questions about the reading they did. Focus on things that might get the cub in trouble, as well as the things that they will need for their novice interview. 6) Inform the cubs about the process for getting a mentor. Make sure to encourage them to find a mentor before their interview, and tell them about needing a recommendation in order to take their novice interview. Have them later read HELP MENTORS, and HOUSE MENTORS for a list of acceptable mentors currently in the realms. If they ask you during the intro to be their mentor, encourage them to get to know more Sentinels before making such an important decision. 7) Tell the cub about HHELP NEWCOMERSKILLS, it shows details on how we gathered information which skills are best learned in the early stages by the different classes. - ** The following section of the intro is optional, though may be very helpful for a new cub. There is more required information below. ** - 8) Now we will start teaching the cub about its skills. This will not be the same for all cubs as we allow different classes. Ask the cub if they knows about their class. If not ask the cub what class they are in and have it read HELP CLASS and the files mentioned in there about their skills. Tell them about the use of the SKILLS/AB command. (for a sentinel classed cub this would be Help Metamorphosis, Help Woodlore, Help Concoctions and Help Fitness) You can ask the cub if they feels confident enough to learn on their own or if they would prefer your help. Make sure the cub reads the advised skills in hhelp newcomerskills. (hhelp Tekura for special monk skills) Teach the cub yourself if you can, else have the cub learn from Vixen or another housemate. The cub might have questions after this and some might have learned skills before joining. If they really learned totally wrong things they could consider recreating (only if they invested in many non-class skills). And we are just presenting them guidelines in their best interest. If they want to learn differently that's their choice, they just can't come complain later. 9) Tell the cubs about the AB FILES to check and learn about skills, also explain the use of POWERS for those that have Metamorphosis (sentinel and druid class). If they learned before and feel they are experienced enough you can go over this part quickly, but real new cubs might need a lot of help. - ** This is the end of the optional section, continue below. ** - 10) Give them some LAST TIPS on where to start, like Minia and Lodi. They should use their class skills or if they didn't get any good bashing skills yet, to use KICK. Tell them to keep their gold and journal in their pack. Sleep to get health back and they would do good to learn about health vials. The use of the newbie channel if they are really new.... Remind the cub of the importance of HHELP CUBFILES again and to do a little self-studying. 11) Mention HHELP NEWCOMERDEATHS. They don't -have- to read it, but make sure they know it exists. 12) Well well, looks you FINISHED your cub stew. Wish the cub good luck and see if they have any questions and try to answer them. Tell them to use HNT if they have questions later. Announce the cub as fully intro'd. Make foxes clan your active clan and 'clan unenemy Finished intro of Cub ' Note: Everyone will do their intros a little differently. Feel free to add in any information the cubs may want to know. Or, if it wasn't ended, describe this instead of "finished" in the unenemy explanation and go post on the Foxes newsboard how far you got.
