Scenarios for Novice Interviews
These are few scenarios I collected, taken from my Apprentice Program (before we call it Internship) under the Apprentices Department.

1/31/5:40 "Well, anyways since you seem interested in cubs and did well with them according to Misty I'm going to give you a project dealing with them more in depth and to concentrate on one of the more important things with them....the interviews. I'm keeping you in Foxes and I would like you to collect at least 10 different scenarios from the interviews you observe during your time with me. I would like to know who you observed these scenarios from and which cub was being interviewed at the time. Once you have these scenarios I would like you to write down how you think they should best be answered. I want you to better understand why we use them and what we look for in answers, and also to give you a good base of scenarios you can use or help to make your own if you choose if you decide to follow your App with NA training. Every good NA has a good supply of scenarios to work from to challenge different cubs and their views. If you have any questions on this please let me know and I'll get back to you on them. As for how I would like this written up, it's up to you, but I can say that letter will probably not be enough room and a message might be a little difficult. I have a super dove I can give you if you choose to use that when you are ready to send it or you can perhaps write it in a journal and I'll copy it from there, just let me know, ok? *smiles* I had another of my Apps do this type of project before so I hope it helps you as well as it did him."
First of all as a Sentinel, I am under oath to protect nature over everything else. Therefore it is clear to me in whatever scenario I may be in, I shall always put nature in the highest priority. These scenarios below are examples of some of the situations and circumstances I may be facing and obviously the answer I will choose shall be Nature, whatever the consequences it may be.
1. Jharrek / Cub Neam - 13th of Miraman, 384
Scenario 1
"You are hunting with a guildmate in the forest way up north. You split up and thunder begins to rage... lightning strikes several times and you notice a fire. At the same time your guildmate that was hunting with you got bitten by a venomous snake, you have the cure... what do you do?"
Answer:
I will first use SURVEY to ascertain my current location and immediately announce on GT of the lightning strike and fire together with current location. This will ensure people may use track or flow to the correct location, at me. My guildmate friend will surely understand this, as he swore on the oath as well. I will expect my friend to be able to cure himself, as one the requirements of passing the test to become a full Sentinel is to carry all the necessary elixirs and salve to cure oneself. I will therefore join my other forestal brethren to DOUSE the fire immediately without delay. However if the friend doesn't have the cure for himself, I will only entertain him after we ensure the fire has been totally clear. Usually, we will announce on GT if the fire has been cleared. If he dies, then there are ways to bring him back and he should be able to recover with very minimum loss, and hopefully learn the lessons well.
As a side note, I have personally involved countless times in many forest fire incidents. In all cases, I don't have even a slightest chance to do anything else, as the process of dousing fire is a time-consuming and taking a heavy toll on my endurance. I will opt to leave my friend alone, and that is my answer.
Scenario 2
"You are on Ulangi and you are harvesting in the forest ... you can do that now too ... when all the sudden POOF Sartan himself appears before you. He tells you that he wants to make a deal with you, all it takes is a little sacrifice on your part. He tells you he will lift the fog from his Island that killed all the plant life and keeps more from growing and all you have to do is inferno 2 rooms on ulangi ... how do you handle it?"
Answer:
This is a clear case of putting Divine versus Nature. I will surely refuse to accept his offer, and fully accept the consequences even if it means death to me. I am powerless to intervene with any Divine matters. Furthermore, I won't put my believe on one Divine such as notorious as Sartan himself.
Scenario 3
"You are out in the woods harvesting one day, when you accidentally overharvest. You are able to replant and repair the damage. What would you do then, knowing that guild law requires you to report an overharvest, but that doing so might get you enemied to the very forests you are sworn to protect for a time?"
Answer:
This scenario demonstrate my responsibility and willingness to accept the full punishment of my action. The answer for this is that I shall have to accept the consequences and face the punishment, in this case clearly - outguilding, enemied and a fine. Nevertheless, I shall do my best to prove myself innocence and avoid harming nature again in the future.
Scenario 4
"Now imagine you are out hunting with your fiance, when she is attacked be an enemy of hers, you had recently passed several younger sentinels while walking and know they are in the area. You spring to the aid of you beloved only to see lightning strike a location nearby, you know if you leave your beloved she will surely die, what do you do?"
Again, I am being challenged of my loyalty to Nature versus the people I love. I will immediately alert my fiance of the forest fire and leave her to deal with the situation. I shall SURVEY, and announce on GT of the lightning strike and fire as well as my current location. I will not depend on the younger Sentinels even though they were in the area, as usually they have less experience in dealing with the situation, however I will ensure to announce on GNT so that they will aware. Here, I am faced with two possibilities - death of my fiance while dealing with the fire, or she died after the fire has been cleared. Either one, she will die and I would not be able to save her in time. Worst case that can happen, she'll dump me and when that happens, only thing I can say is, I can always find a replacement for her, but I cannot find a replacement for Nature.
2. Canina / Cub Bronstal - 11th of Sarapin, year 385
Scenario 1
"You are on the island of Ulangi, where Tells and channels don't reach the mainland. You are here harvesting a bit and working on the quests for the gold and believe yourself to be all alone. As you move to another room, you find yourself surrounded by blazing trees. Just as you are about to begin putting the fire out, you get a Tell from a friend on the other side of the island. They say they need a health or they will die. What do you do??"
Answer:
For a Sentinel who has Nature in his heart, this would be a very clear cut, straight-forward answer. First of all, message to a guildmate that I knew still would be on the mainland and asking for help on GT. I would maintain dousing the fire as much as I can, while telling my friend that I have a bigger priority at hand and remind him that I am under oath to defend Nature above all else. He shall die, yes. But he will be back with lessons learned, and hopefully would not repeat the same mistake twice. Last but not least, I'll patrol every room for possible inferno while checking the plants status. Usually, we will also ensure the Wilderness Area are cleared as well.
Scenario 2
"Lord Aegis appears before you and asks you for your help. He is at war with Lord Sartan and needs just a tiny bit of essence to tip the scales of the war. He says that all it would take is for you to burn down a single forest room. The essence of the plants would be enough for what He needed. He would even offer to help you fix the damage after the war was over, and even give you His Truefavour. What do you do?"
Answer
A classic scenario that challenges my full commitment to serve Nature above everything, even if it means denying to assist a Divine in his cause. The promises given are so tempting and attractive, a weaker mind would certainly comply. I stand to my will and decision, I shall not offer any assistance at all, regardless the consequences. Burning down, even a single forest room would defeat my purpose as a guardian of Nature, and I would be betraying all, my Guild, myself and worst of all I would betray Nature.
Scenario 3
"You hear that Hashan has decided to expand its reach to increase their power. That's all well and good, except they decide to expand into the Ithmian forests. Hashan begins razing down trees to make room for its new areas. Mhaldor doesn't like this one bit and begins a war with Hashan to stop the expansion. If you had to choose between Hashan or Mhaldor, which would you side with?"
Answer
I certainly never thought of this coming. This scenario is truly brilliant, testing my loyalty with a twist and turn drifting me further from my purpose in life, Nature. In one hand, Hashan seems to be the obvious enemy of Nature while Mhaldor playing the role of a good guy. But the truth is Mhaldor never bother if Hashan destroys the forest or harming Nature whatsoever, Mhaldor simply doesn't want Hashan to be a stronger opponent that it is now. War between these two cities never had any advantages to nature. War brings only destructions to Nature regarless which side is winning the battle. In the end, Nature is the one losing it all. Therefore, in this case I will not choose side with either cities. I will ensure that no harm shall come to the forest, and without doubt I will give my life in order to protect it from both of the cities at war.
Scenario 4
"You are on the island of Ulangi, where Tells and channels don't reach to the mainland. You are here with a guildmate working on the quests and bashing a bit. You and he come across a druid that for some reason he absolutely hates. He smirks at you and says he wants to 'teach the druid a lesson' and asks for your help. What do you do?"
Answer
Another good scenario, testing my understanding of the guild bylaws by putting me in a position of conflict. Clearly, as a Sentinels, I am not allowed to kill another, let alone assisting in one killing except in the defend of Nature. I will choose not to help.
"Your guildmate says 'fine, I'll do it without your help then'. Seeing what he intends, the druid begs you for help, that he did nothing wrong to deserve this. Do you just leave him to die, a fellow forestal?"
Answer:
My respond is being challenged and this time I am being tested for my compassion. I will not allow this to continue and using my common sense I will try my best to persuade my guildmate to cease his intention.
"He ignores your attempts and tells you that you should side with a guildmate over a mere druid...doing otherwise he says you are breaking your Oath. He continues to the druid and makes to attack him."
Answer:
Using the Oath as a basis to ask my assistance to help with a killing, worst - another forestal - clearly shows my guildmate's unworthiness as a Sentinel. I shall not tolerate this action, however restricted by the guild bylaws - especially not to harm a fellow guildmate - I choose to stay put and observe, collecting enough proof so that I can report his action to the Guild secretaries.
"The druid says he didn't do anything...who is telling the truth? Where would we be if we just attacked a fellow forestal for any old insult...assuming there was one?"
Answer:
Perhaps, the druid may have hurt my guildmate once, but there are other diplomatic and civilised manner of to solve the issues between them. I will observe, not choosing any side and try my best to contact any higher ranking Guildmember using messaging, for a help. Hopefully, we can resolve this without spilling any blood.
"You see your guildmate morph to wyvern and build up his flame...he is planning on infernoing the grove of the druid so he can't use his defenses."
Answer:
My guildmate has shown his own betrayal to the very Nature he has sworn to protect. He is totally out of line now, and he is no more unfit to be a Sentinel. I will ask him to stop, but if he insists on killing the druid, then he has to use other means of attack that would not harm the grove. Should he choose to proceed and harming the grove by inferno, I will ensure that he shall not leave this island alive, even if it means that I would die trying. Nature is on my side now. I shall do whatever it takes to protect it.
"He says it's the quickest and easiest way to kill the druid...and he could always report it as the druid's fault and have it fixes...no problem."
Answer:
The line has been drawn. He is no Sentinel at heart, he is full of grudge and vengeance, thus sadly I would no more consider him as a guildmate. He is an enemy of Nature, and must be stopped at all cost.
